Reporting to the RFD Benelux the Business Controller is responsible for supporting the delivery of internal and external financial reporting and analysis. This includes participation in the creation and implementation of finance plans to support [division] strategies and ensure business objectives and performance is achieved, including preparation of budgets and forecasts and other ad hoc analysis. The Business Controller will participate in developing the direction and priorities of the finance function through collaboration with the Benelux shared service centre and other divisional finance teams to continuously improve the effectiveness and efficiency of finance operations.

REPORTING
Support the delivery of all relevant, accurate and timely management information and analysis, including:
• Preparation of monthly financial forecasts and Group KPIs for submission in the MMA
• Evaluation of Supply Chain and Sales KPI information and onward reporting of the same.
• Financial reporting and commentary provided to Group, [division] Region / Central Finance and local MD
• Ad hoc commercial and operational reporting and analysis as directed by the RFD
DECISION SUPPORT
Support the creation of the overall [division] strategy and plans, and work as directed by the RFD to assist in driving performance towards delivery of the agreed plans. Related activities include:
• Develop and present long range plans, annual financial plans, budget and forecasts
• Input into (sub) functional / divisional business strategies
• Support activities to ensure that resources are allocated across the organisation in a prioritised way and with regard to maximising organisation and cost effectiveness
• Develop the financial aspects of business cases, acquisitions and capital investments to ensure that they are commercially and financially sound, tax compliant and submitted in accordance with relevant regional, national and regulatory deadlines
• Support [country and divisional] projects by advising on financial matters and to ensure consistency with the financial plans of the division
• Periodic assistance in the process of due diligence for acquisitions or mergers
GENERAL ACCOUNTING
Coordinate with the Benelux SSC to ensure that financial and fiscal statutory reporting is approved and delivered according to group accounting policies and local statutory and fiscal requirements.
CONTROLS & RISK MANAGEMENT
Work with the Benelux SSC and internal audit to ensure that an effective system of internal control is in place that gives assurance sufficient to enable approval of the financial results and reduce business risk.
Maintenance, development and documentation of effective systems and procedures and associated controls with a view to enhancing business performance and control.
COMMERCIAL ANALYSIS
The Finance Business Partner will support the successful delivery of commercial plans and targets, including working with the [division] teams to deliver accurate and insightful reporting and analysis of commercial results (sales & margin etc). Related activities include:
• Work alongside Operations and SSC to evaluate cash collection performance and assist in addressing and resolving problems with bad debt and cash collection
• Liaison with Supply Chain and Sales Finance Managers to ensure an effective coordination of policy and standardisation of procedures (as far as possible) within Benelux. Ensure that the impact of decisions and policies pursued in one area of the business is clearly evaluated and understood in terms of how it affects other parts of the business.
TEAM LEADERSHIP
Develop and maintain resource plans and people development plans in line with HR policies, including:
• Conduct periodic reviews with SSC and wider Benelux finance team to ensure the organisation design is optimal and integrated
Functie eisen
• A relevant first degree or equivalent.
• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
• Broad understanding of the relevant business sector.
• Broad business knowledge including commercial, market and financial awareness.
• Stakeholder management skills
• Strong communication skills
• Extensive budget management
• Project and programme management
• At least 5 years financial/managerial experience.
• Relevant experience in a fast paced services industry with extensive competition and reducing margins
• Financial Management – ensuring effective management of working capital, building strong balance sheets, improving margins
• Deep understanding of financial and managerial KPI’s.
• Communication skills – credible with senior management, good at conflict resolution. Will have an ability to operate in a matrix organization, reporting to the CFD but being the financial partner to the [division] country MD.
• Relationship Management – establishing and sustaining strong customer and supplier relationships etc.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.
