Reporting to the RFD Benelux the Business Controller Sales Benelux is responsible for supporting the delivery of internal and external financial reporting and analysis for the Sales and Marketing function. This includes participation in the creation and implementation of finance plans to support [division] strategies and ensure business objectives and performance is achieved, including preparation of budgets and forecasts and other ad hoc analysis. The Business Controller Sales Benelux will participate in developing the direction and priorities of the Sales and Marketing function through collaboration with the Benelux sales and marketing teams and other divisional finance teams to continuously improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Sales and Marketing operations. The Business Controller Sales Benelux will fulfil the role of Business Partner for the Sales Director Netherlands and Sales Director Belgium.
The role is based in Voorburg, The Netherlands with travel across Benelux being required. Travel to Sales Finance and / or Finance European meetings will be required from time to time
De functie
REPORTING
Support the delivery of all relevant, accurate and timely management information and analysis, including:
• Provision of financial and operational data and analysis (including KPI information) to other members of the finance function and to operational management to assist them in their reporting and managerial duties to the region and the group. Reported information must be prepared on a monthly basis consistent with reporting procedures and norms throughout the region and the group as a whole.
• Preparation and analysis of sales and marketing statistics, KPIs and residual value invoicing, including analysis of variances and feedback to operational management.
• Ad hoc commercial and operational reporting and analysis as directed by the RFD
DECISION SUPPORT
Support the creation of the overall [division] strategy and plans, and work as directed by the RFD to assist in driving performance towards delivery of the agreed plans. Related activities include:
• Assist in the development and presentation of long range plans, annual financial plans, budget and forecasts for the Sales and Marketing function under the overall coordination of the Country Finance Business Partners.
• Input into Sales and Marketing business strategies
• Assist the Country Finance Managers in the development of the financial aspects of business cases, acquisitions and capital investments to ensure that they are commercially and financially sound.
• Support Sales and Marketing projects by advising on financial matters and liaising with Country Finance Managers to ensure consistency with the financial plans of the division
• Develop, refine, monitor and manage incentive programmes for the sales force in conjunction with the Country Sales Directors.
COMMERCIAL ANALYSIS
The Sales Finance Manager Benelux will support the successful delivery of commercial plans and targets, including working with the [division] teams to deliver accurate and insightful reporting and analysis of commercial results (sales & margin etc). Related activities include:
• Establish and maintain processes to review customer account profitability that highlight low/unprofitable accounts; develop strategies to drive improvement. This includes the assessment of the profitability of new contracts including tenders as well as existing ones.
• Support key commercial decisions, including pricing and commercial terms and conditions
• Liaison with the divisional Sales and Marketing function in the application of and monitoring the impact of divisional strategies.
• Portfolio analysis including relationship to and reconciliation to revenue.
• Analysis of business gains and losses including reasons, trends in product/service mix, contract types, prices and profitability.
• Analysis of sector and industry trends, pricing etc. linked to overall sales propositions.
• Monitoring of customer rebates and credit notes including the analysis of reasons and trends and ensuring adequate controls are in place over this area.
• Liaison with Country Finance Business Partners and the Supply Chain Manager Benelux to ensure that the impact of decisions and policies pursued in Sales and Marketing both regionally and at divisional level is clearly evaluated and understood in terms of how it affects other parts of the business.
TEAM LEADERSHIP
Develop and maintain resource plans and people development plans in line with HR policies, including:
• Leadership of the Sales Finance team including all HR matters relating thereto.
• Liaison with Country Finance Business Partners to assist them in their task of ensuring the organisation design for the wider Benelux finance team is optimal and integrated

• A relevant first degree or equivalent.
• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
• Continuous relevant training and development to support professional status.
• Broad understanding of the relevant business sector.
• Broad business knowledge including commercial, market and financial awareness.
• Stakeholder management skills
• Strong communication skills
• Extensive budget management
• Project and programme management
• At least 5 years financial/managerial experience.
• Relevant experience in a fast paced services industry with extensive competition and reducing margins
• Financial Management – ensuring effective management of working capital, building strong balance sheets, improving margins
• Deep understanding of financial and managerial KPI’s.
• Communication skills – credible with senior management, good at conflict resolution. Will have an ability to operate in a matrix organization, reporting to the CFD but being the financial partner to the [division] country MD.
• Relationship Management – establishing and sustaining strong customer and supplier relationships etc.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.
